Copies of birth records for personal or genealogical use can be obtained from the Archives for the years 1890-1915. You can also search online.

The Salt Lake County Health Department Bureau of Vital Records maintains records as follows:

  • Births occurring within the Salt Lake CITY limits: 1890-present.
  • Births within current Salt Lake COUNTY limits: September 1969-present.
  • Births for all of the STATE of Utah: 1975 and 1977-present.

Additional resources include:

  • The Utah State Office of Vital Records and Statistics is another source for certificates for births that occurred in Utah since 1905.
  • Utah History Research Center and the Family History Library have birth certificates from 1898 to 1905 on microfilm.
