Summer Space Academy at Clark Planetarium

Clark Planetarium is partnering with the Natural History Museum of Utah (NHMU),Tracy Aviary, Wasatch Community Gardens, and Discovery Gateway to host a series of full- and half-day summer camps from June through August. These camps are more than just a place for kids to spend their summer—they offer a dynamic, engaging, and educational experience.

The Summer Space Academy, hosted at Clark Planetarium and our partner locations, provides an exciting opportunity for kids to explore, learn, and have fun. With hands-on activities, interactive lessons, and a variety of topics, children will stay curious and engaged throughout the summer. Thanks to our incredible partners, campers will enjoy a diverse range of experiences, from science and space exploration to nature and discovery.

Calling all eco-enthusiasts! Explore the wonders of Earth and its diverse ecosystems through science, art, and play. Join us for our journey through the amazing planet we call home and discover how you can be a scientist in your own neighborhood.

Summer Space Academy: Expedition Earth is open to children entering Kindergarten and 1st grade (ages 5-7). Camp begins each morning at 9 a.m. and ends at 12 p.m. More information, including waivers and a daily agenda, will be sent out no later than one week before camp begins.

Drop-off and Pick-up

The drop-off window is 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. every day. The pick-up window is 12:00 p.m. - 12:15 p.m. every day. Drop-off and pick-up will take place in Clark Planetarium's lobby. Campers must be accompanied by an adult for check-in and must be picked up by an authorized adult during the pick-up window each day. Parking is free for the first hour in the South Parking Garage attached to Clark Planetarium.

Cancellations and Refunds

If you need to cancel your child's camp registration, email us at clarkreservations@saltlakecounty.gov. As per Salt Lake County policy and procedures the Clark Planetarium will withhold 25% of the refund (program registration fee) for administrative costs. Requests must be received two weeks or more in advance of the start date and time of the program. No refunds shall be given for requests received later than this.

Experience what it takes to complete a mission into space and beyond! Learn how scientists plan to inhabit the Moon and Mars while engaging in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. Put your skills to the test through fun fitness games, experience astronaut food, and discover careers in space through creative challenges and projects.

Calling all future astronauts: pack your enthusiasm and imagination, we're headed to space! Join us for an out of this world summer camp in partnership with Clark Planetarium this summer. Participants will spend mornings at Wasatch Community Gardens learning about photosynthesis, building solar ovens, and growing plants in planetary conditions, while afternoons will be chock-full of immersive outer space experiences at Clark Planetarium including theater presentations and astrobiology projects.

By the end of the week, campers will have a deeper understanding of the dynamic processes that connect Earth and our solar system.

Drop off and pick up on Monday and Tuesday take place at NHMU. Wednesday and Thursday will be at Clark Planetarium. No camp on Friday.
