Party Affiliation

Party affiliation pertains to partisan primary elections held in even-numbered years where political parties are nominating candidates to represent their party on the November General Election Ballot.

Party affiliation does not apply to general elections or non-partisan municipal elections held in odd-numbered years.

Party Affiliation FAQs

There is no deadline to join a political party in 2025 as municipal elections are non-partisan, meaning party affiliation does not apply.

The party affiliation deadline for elections taking place in 2026 will be April 1, 2026.

If you don't currently belong to a political party, you are not required to join. Municipal elections held in odd-number years are non-partisan, meaning party affiliation does not apply.
