Arlyn Bradshaw
Arlyn Bradshaw was first elected to serve as representative for County Council District 1 in 2010. As an elected official he prioritizes air quality, promoting a healthy environment and open space preservation, transportation infrastructure, criminal justice reform, as well as a thriving economy.
Arlyn is the County Council representative serving on the Salt Lake County Board of Health where he helped to establish, and promotes, air quality programs like the wood burning restrictions and financial support for low-income individuals to repair high-polluting cars. Arlyn believes improved transportation infrastructure including greater access to safe bike routes and public transit supports the health and quality of life for residents. He supports collaborative transportation planning and working with local cities on meaningful solutions to our community’s growing transportation challenges. Arlyn is an alternative transportation advocate, and has helped to secure funding to build more regional trails and urban bike paths.
Arlyn has been a strong voice in the county’s collaborative processes to establish balanced zoning that preserves the Wasatch Mountains while responsibly maintaining access for families and visitors to enjoy.
Arlyn also works to promote business and tourism that contribute to a thriving economy.
Arlyn is a champion of criminal justice reform, including expanded mental health, veteran, and substance abuse courts for deserving individuals. He advocates for bail, legal defense, and sentencing reform to ensure that all defendants are treated equally regardless of their economic status.
Arlyn serves on the Visit Salt Lake Executive Board, the Utah State Transparency Advisory Board, the Salt Lake City Airport Advisory Board, and is the board chair of the Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake County. Arlyn earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and his Master of Public Administration, both from the University of Utah.
In addition to serving on the County Council, Arlyn is also the Mountain West Regional Director of Best Friends Animal Society. Arlyn and his partner Neil live in the Marmalade neighborhood in Salt Lake City.
