Employee Appreciation Day 2025

This year’s Employee Appreciation Day is taking us to space because Salt Lake County employees are truly out of this world! We can’t wait to spend June 4 thanking our employees for their space-tacular contributions to making Salt Lake County an incredible place to live.

For this year’s Employee Appreciation Day, we will be returning to The County Library’s Viridian Event Center as we’ve learned it has the best of all worlds—indoor and outer space, plenty of parking for your rocket ship, nearby interstellar transit, and so much more!

If you plan on attending this year’s event, the RSVP form is NOW OPEN! Be sure to let us know whether you’re coming or not by May 7.

Help Flavia Reach The Stars

Help Flavia the Flying Flamingo, our Salt Lake County Employee Appreciation Day mascot, achieve her dreams of reaching the stars by creating a space suit or spaceship for our pink-feathered friend. Here's what to do:

  1. Gather your flock to create a space suit or spaceship for Flavia's journey to the stars using whatever materials you would like. (Inflatable Flavias will be delivered to agencies the week of April 21! Teams will need to purchase their own additional supplies.)
  2. Take a photo of Flavia in her space suit or spaceship.
  3. Submit the photo via the Space Flavia Art Show form so we can prepare to display her as part of the Employee Day Art Exhibit. All entries must be submitted by MAY 23.
  4. Transport your Space Flavia safely to Employee Day on June 4 and pass her off to the Employee Day Art Exhibit team between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m.

Mission Patch Design Contest

We're blasting off on a mission to celebrate our stellar employees. We need your help designing mission patches to commemorate the occasion! Mission patches should highlight one of the following competencies that make SLCo employees out of this world: teamwork, problem solving, and communication. Employees may submit up to 2 designs per category. (Please submit each design as an individual upload.)

Each design should:

  1. Fit one of the competencies categories (teamwork, problem solving, or communication).
  2. Include "SLCo" and "2025."
  3. Fit in a 2" diameter circle.
  4. Have a minimum digital resolution of 300 ppi.
  5. Be original artwork (no AI-generated images, please).
  6. Be submitted to the Mission Patch Design Contest form by Friday, May 16.

Three winning designs (one per competency) will be printed as stickers and will be available for employees to pick up on Employee Appreciation Day. The winning designers will be recognized and receive a prize.
