Welcome to the Salt Lake County Human Services Department!  It is my privilege to serve as the Department’s Director, working closely with our seven agencies seeking to meet the diverse needs of our County’s communities, businesses, families and individuals.

Our more than 70 programs work together, taking bold steps to ensure all people and communities in Salt Lake County:

  • Achieve optimal physical and mental well-being 
  • Are safe from trauma, violence, and environmental injustice
  • Live successfully in safe, affordable, and accessible housing
  • Have employment opportunities for economic security
  • Are resilient

Our comprehensive approach ensures that we address the diverse needs of our community by:

  • Utilizing a population health approach by focusing on health and wellness outcomes through policies, practices, environments, opportunities and reducing barriers to ensure all our communities can thrive.
  • Identifying and addressing disparities within and across our communities.
  • Utilizing data to determine what is going well and where improvement is necessary. Quantitative data tell us where disparities exist and voices of our communities provide insight into how we build upon community strengths and design our work as we partner to address community needs.
  • Collaborating with community-based organizations enables us to extend our reach and improve the quality of life for all residents.
  • Cross-agency coordination among our seven agencies and other County departments allows us to deliver, through an integrated approach, more comprehensive services to those we serve.

I am immensely proud of the work our agency does and the positive impact we have on the lives of those we serve. Our commitment to excellence, compassion, and innovation drives us to continually improve and adapt to the changing needs of our communities.
