Indigent Legal Services

All individuals, adults, youth, parents, and those who may be civilly committed, have the right to high quality legal representation when navigating the criminal justice system. Salt Lake County holds the responsibility to provide these defense services for indigent individuals and does so through contracting local law firms to provide the services. Salt Lake Legal Defender Association provides services to adults, Utah Juvenile Defense Association serves youth under the age of 18, Lokken & Putnam serves families involved with DCFS, and the Law Office of Julie George serves individuals navigating civil commitment, as well as six secondary contracts when a legal conflict arises.
