Salt Lake County Clerk’s Office Recognized Nationally for Accessible Voter Outreach

Salt Lake County--Salt Lake County Clerk Lannie Chapman announced today that the Salt Lake County Clerk's Office Election Division has received national recognition from the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) with a 2024 Clearinghouse Award, also known as a "Clearie." The award honors the Election Division's efforts to expand access and empower voters with disabilities through hands-on education and outreach.

Salt Lake County is one of 32 jurisdictions across the country to be named a 2024 Clearie Award recipient. The Clerk's Office was recognized in the category of Accessibility: Best Practices for Improving Accessibility for Voters with Disabilities for its Try Before You Vote: Accessible Voter Outreach program.

Through this initiative, the Election Division attended events hosted by or geared toward individuals with disabilities, offering live demonstrations of voting equipment and voting resources. Voters were able to test out equipment, ask questions, and register to vote. The goal was to reduce uncertainty around accessible voting options and ensure every voter could make an informed decision about how they wanted to vote before Election Day.

"This outreach was all about meeting voters where they are," said Clerk Chapman. "We know that confidence and familiarity are key to participation, especially for voters with disabilities. Our team is proud to be recognized for helping make the voting process more accessible, approachable, and inclusive for everyone in our community."

The Salt Lake County Clerk's Office continues to prioritize voter access, election transparency, and operational excellence. From secure by-mail voting to community education and innovative voter services, the Elections Division is committed to making participation easy, accurate, equitable, and trusted for all eligible voters in Salt Lake County.
