Environmental Sustainability
Salt Lake County is home to a diverse and unique environment that offers unparalleled recreation and quality of life opportunities. As a division part of the Office of Regional Development, Environmental Sustainability seeks to support regional sustainability measures to ensure all populations live in a safe, secure, and healthy environment.
Salt Lake County is dedicated to reducing the County’s internal environmental footprint across all sectors including reduction efforts within the five pillars of Salt Lake County’s sustainability: air, water, waste and recycling, land, and energy. In addition to addressing internal governmental operations, the Environmental Sustainability Division is committed to addressing environmental justice in historically underserved communities by maintaining collaborative partnerships with organizations throughout the County.
